Summary:

A Field Marketing Specialist plays a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with our network of independent agencies. The field marketing specialist serves as a bridge between the company and agency partners, ensuring they receive critical business updates and policy changes while fostering collaboration for mutual success. To excel in this role, you should possess strong organizational and time management skills to optimize time in the field, versatility, a background in the insurance industry, diplomatic skills, and a willingness to travel throughout the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota. The overall mission is to strengthen our relationships, enhance collaboration, and pave the way for mutual success.

The duties outlined below represent the minimum duties required as a Marketing Representative. Other duties may be assigned as needed.


Essential Functions

  • In collaboration with your colleagues in Marketing and Underwriting, you will develop and implement a dynamic, annual marketing plan focused on strengthening agency relationships, supporting premium and policy count growth and improving profitability.
  • You will continuously work to deepen your agency relationships through regular communications across a variety of available media and across in-person meetings, industry and networking events and team building activities.
  • You will deliver onboarding and training to newly appointed agencies and agents, both in-person and virtually.
  • You will also deliver ad hoc training to existing agents to support their ongoing skill and knowledge growth of WMI products, underwriting guides and technology.
  • And you will deliver in-person and virtual training to support the rollout of new WMI technology, products, underwriting guidelines and other initiatives.
  • You will work with the team in developing new training programs and materials.
  • You will support the development and delivery of new marketing materials and campaigns.
  • You will document your agency engagement through a variety of tools including CRM and call reports and analyze the data to evaluate the success of your efforts.
  • You will report back to your Marketing and Underwriting colleagues regularly on the results of your agencies, competitor news and industry trends.
  • You will create, analyze & share monthly reports highlighting key agency performance indicators.
  • You will adjust your marketing plan, as needed, based on changing conditions in the marketplace to maximize its impact.
  • You will interview and evaluate new prospective agencies to support company efforts to grow its network of appointed agents and expand its geographic footprint into underserved areas.

  • Demonstrable, excellent written and verbal communication skills to efficiently convey information between company and agents
  • The confidence and presence to effectively communicate in group settings and at different organizational levels
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity so that at times when you have limited data, you can still analyze it and use it to make the best decision possible
  • Strong persuasive ability to lead agents and policyholders to align with the Company’s core philosophy and values, fostering a shared sense of purpose
  • A results-oriented and self-driven personality, with a proactive approach to achieving targets and exceeding expectations
  • The desire to continually increase your industry knowledge and job-specific skills
  • The practical ability to utilize the Microsoft suite of tools products
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable MVR

Education / Experience

  • Bachelors in Marketing, Business or other related field
  • Prior experience promoting and marketing in a business environment
  • Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry

Working Conditions

The physical work environment for this position involves sitting in an office setting and on the road traveling to and from agencies. The ratio between these two environments is approximately 60% at the desk and approximately 40% traveling. Overtime may be required for this position if requested by a supervisor in order to complete a certain given task in a timely manner.
